A Message from the Board President
Back To School

On behalf of the Board of Education (BOE), I would like to welcome Bloom-Carroll students, families, and staff to a new school year.  The BOE hopes everyone enjoyed a fun-filled and relaxing summer!  It seems like yesterday that we were saying congratulations and wishing our 2017 graduating class much success in their future endeavors.  How quickly summer passes and our thoughts turn to the 2017-2018 school year.  This is the time of year when we begin to feel the excitement of starting a new school year and eagerly welcoming our students back and hearing about their summer.  Bloom-Carroll will be welcoming 142 kindergartners to the Class of 2030!

The members of the BOE are excited to be part of a team comprised of administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and students who want to achieve great things this school year! Our faculty and staff have been working hard to ensure that your child’s learning experience this year will be successful and productive.  Many members of our faculty have participated in professional development opportunities over the summer in preparation for the 2017-2018 school year.   Our very talented faculty brings a diverse set of approaches to instruction in order to address a variety of student learning styles.  Under the leadership of our new superintendent, Shawn Haughn, I am sure that we will have an exciting year.  The BOE welcomes Mr. Haughn to the position of superintendent and looks forward to working with him in the coming months.

The BOE, in partnership with Mr. Haughn, will be working to revise our mission statement and goals to be reflective of the 21st century learning environment and objectives. We will continue to engage the community as we work to build upon the existing educational programs that address each child’s social, emotional, and academic needs.  Under Mr. Haughn’s leadership we will promote an educational environment that engages all of the students in meaningful work so that they develop the critical skills necessary to become independent, responsible, and productive citizens.

I would encourage each of you to become involved this year and attend BOE meetings to provide input to the BOE members and administration.  Your input is valuable to us as we begin to evaluate options related to building a new elementary school and completing the master facility plan.

The members of the BOE look forward to working with you as we start the 2017-2018 school year.

Go Bulldogs!

Sam Chapman, BOE President
